Prof. Azade Köker’in 5 Ocak tarihine kadar sürecek Verblendet isimli kişisel sergisinin açılışı, Berlin Gallery Zilbermanda’da gerçekleştirildi.
Çalışmalarını Berlin ve İstanbul’da sürdüren Azade Köker’in yapıtları, doğa ve kent dikotomisinin günümüzde savaş ve göçle şekillenen sosyo-politik çevreyle olan ilişkisinden temelini alıyor.
Kentler, çokkültürlülük ve yıkımdan geriye kalanlar; sınırlar ve güç yapıları, sanatçının kolaj ve yerleştirmelerinde karşımıza çıkan analojiler arasında yer alıyor. Köker’in yerleştirmeleri, heykelleri ve hareketli görsellerinde aktardığı doğanın yok oluşuna karşı direnişi bir Romantiğin sığınabileceği yer veya inziva alanı olmanın ötesinde bir melezlik inşa ediyor. Doğadaki plastik atıklar ve tavandan sarkan ağaç kökleri veya ormana saklı tanklar, yıkımın acısını gözler önüne seren yeni bir gerçeklik tasvir ediyor.
Azade Köker’in Zilberman Gallery’deki Verblendet (Kör Edilen) başlıklı kişisel sergisi sanatçının yeni yapıtlarını bir araya getiriyor. Köker Invasion 1 (2018) ve Relikte Der Stadt (2018) adlı yapıtlarının da dahil olduğu kağıt kolajlarında ve kağıttan heykellerinde kenti giderek daha çok etkisi altına alan sessiz kaosu görünür kılıyor. Fragiler Wald II (2017) ve Verlassene Dichte (2017) adlı kırılgan yapıtlarında günümüzdeki ekonomik bilinçsizliğin bir sonucu olarak yavaşça yok olma ihtimaliyle karşılaşıyoruz. Sanatçı, Paul Virilio’nun sanat yapıtlarının maddeselliğinin yanı sıra mimari ve savaş politikasını da ele alarak yoğun ışıktan kör olan gözlere atıfta bulunduğu kitabı Die Verblendung der Kunst ’tan yola çıkıyor. Köker, güncel siyasi ve toplumsal savaş alanının “ışığında” günümüzün apokaliptik sahnesinde insanların körlüğüyle ilişki kurmayı hedefliyor.
